The following are pictures and descriptions
of organisims found on October 11, 2006.
Elbow crab, (Family: Parthenopidae, Genus/species: suspected as Thyrolambrus sp.) was found in one of the traps placed at 750 feet.
Blue dragon nudibranch, Pteraeolidia
ianthina.
Jeweled anemone crab, Dardanus gemmatus.
Collected in deep set trap, ~750 feet.
Red algae. Kallymenia sp. Hand collected at lagoon patch reef.
Red sea star. Ophidiaster duncani.
You cannot see them, but they are there!
Water samples are pressed through tiny filters that capture the microbes.
After the expedition these samples will be sent to Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institute for identification.
